ZimVerve’s first focus is on the talented and authentic Ashley Nyemba aka Zuva who is living up to her name and shining on everything her light touches. She says she wants to be remembered as “the girl who could do it all” and at the age of 20 she is already known for balancing med- school and bravely venturing into pursuing her passion for music. This multi- faceted young lady is only gaining speed and is showing no signs of slowing down.

With a fast growing fan base, Zuva continues to establish her presence on the music scene as a soulful jazz artist. She captures crowds as she performs both covers of popular music and by singing her own original pieces, such as her latest single, Silence, which has also allowed her to show off her abilities as a lyricist.

Zuva has had experience performing for a variety of audiences from the British Ambassador’s birthday celebrations all the way to crowds at Unplugged. Together with her band, this young artist connects deeply with her audiences with each performance. Zuva attributes her ability to maintaining balance in her demanding schedule to her faith, supportive family, sacrifice, working effectively and learning good time management.

Quick Questions With Zuva

When did you decide you wanted to pursue a career in music and how did you get into it?

I have always been very musical since I was very young and have been writing music for years, which I only began to share much later. I started performing for small crowds and at private events such as weddings and gradually was being booked more and increasing my performances and releasing music.

You are very active in marketing your music and sharing your opinions on social media, have you ever faced any challenges with it as your visibility grows?

For the most part I get positive feedback. I have however received some comments online that I was “too ambitious” but overall social media has largely been very useful in promoting my work.

What is your dream collaboration?

My dream local collaborations would be with Tahle weDzinza, who I think is extremely talented, and Tamy Moyo. My dream international collaboration would be with Emile Sandé. She is the reason I started writing and I consider her a queen of soul.

What song is playing in your head right now?

Chekeche

If you could bring one fictional character to life who would it be?

Barbie

Not many people know that you play the piano, what else would people be surprised to learn about you?

I am also a graphic designer and I speak French.

What is the most useless talent you have?

I know all the lyrics to every song from the Disney classics.

What can your fans look forward to from you in the near future?

Something’s cooking for next year. I can’t say what it is just yet though.

How can people get in touch with you and where can they find your music?

You can find my music on iTunes, Tidal, Spotify and YouTube (live performances) all under ‘Zuva’.
